I’m a beauty blogger, but not a makeup artist. I’m just a normal gal with an addiction to beauty products! I was thinking recently that I should seek out some how-to advice to get new ideas on how to apply makeup, since I have TONS of the stuff.

At the same time, Terri Apanasewicz, a celebrity makeup artist, contacted me about reviewing her P3 Perfect Pretty Process makeup how-to DVD. I watched the DVD and I learned some new tips and techniques.

For example, I learned that you should wash your concealer and powder brushes after every use when you’re having a breakout. Seems obvious, but I never realized that my makeup brushes could be spreading acne around my face!

Terri is an amazing makeup artist who has worked with celebrities such as Miley Cyrus and Gisele Bundchen. I love how she gives you examples for makeup application on three women with completely different skin types and ethnicities – African American, Caucasian and Asian. The techniques are the same, but as the models demonstrate, Terri’s techniques can be used on anyone – just change up the colors for your skin tone. The models are not actually models, but everyday women who were given a tutorial by Terri and then filmed while they practiced the new techniques they had just learned. So easy to master!

The DVD is intentionally pretty basic – it shows you how to get an every day look that you can wear to work or school. I think this would be a great gift for a teenager (I wish I would have had this when I was in high school!) or someone who doesn’t normally wear a lot of makeup but would like to learn how. A really nice gift idea would be a gift basket with this DVD and several of the products Terri recommends. The makeup products featured in her DVD are all available for purchase on her website. Terri’s own brand, P3 and other top picks are cruelty-free: Amazing Cosmetics, DuWop, etc.
