When I first unscrewed the cap off the Billy Jealousy Lunatic Fringe container, I had some misgivings. The product was amber in appearance and looked heavy. I had switched to lighter crème pomades in the past to avoid getting that crunchy, “helmet” head more appropriate to Guy Fieri (hey, it works on him but he’s … extreme?).
I was, however, pleasantly surprised to find that the hold provided was much more relaxed than I had anticipated. It gave my hair structure, but didn’t smother the soft waves I desperately try to nurture as part of my morning routine.
I’m also quite pleased by the scent, especially as I had been so accustomed to a more medicinal, slightly alcoholic scent associated with products I’ve tried in the past. Writing this makes me think of George Clooney’s line from O Brother, Where Art Thou?: “I like the smell of my hair treatment; the pleasing odor is half the point.” Indeed, the pleasing odor IS half the point and contributes greatly to my overall appreciation of both the product and the process as a whole. Who wouldn’t enjoy transforming a work-a-day grooming task into a treat for multiple senses?

this was a really quality post. In theory I'd like to write like this too – taking time and real effort to make a good article…
