As summer approaches, it is time to clean out your makeup bag and “replace your face” with weather compatible makeup. The perfect date to remember to make the switch is June 21st every year, AKA the Summer Solstice, which marks the official beginning of summer.

On that date, empty out your makeup bag, put away your heavy winter makeup. Replace those dark eye shadows and deep lipstick shades. In place of those products add makeup that is lighter in texture and transparency, has sun protection and can hold out in warm weather.

My suggestions begin with proper skin care products that will be the core of your Super Summer look. In my cosmetic line I have the ideal lightweight moisturizer, with SPF 15, called Crema Chiara. Apply this liberally to your entire face after cleansing and toning your skin.

Next apply our Skin Supreme Matte Foundation, blending it with the moisturizer for a clear, fresh finish. Our foundation is water-based and has titanium dioxide, which is a natural sunblock and also contains other vitamins and minerals.

When the weather gets warm, our skin begins to perspire more and we get shiny. By using our matte formula, your skin will appear matte and smooth.

Switch your tradional eye shadows to our Eye Matte Cream shadows that have awesome long wearing abilities. Our lush collection ranges from the golden warmth of natural bronze tones to shades that are more opulent and daring. They can be applied effortlessly with our small Blender Brush and they last all day without creasing, smudging or smearing.

Avoid using eye pencils as a liner, as they tend to melt in warm weather and end up smudging around your eyes. Apply our cake liners which are called Eye Definers. They go on wet but then dry to a powder, which means no smearing.  Use lots of black waterproof mascara to finish off.

Once you have gotten a little color from the sun (of course slowly and with caution), our mineral bronzers are a must have to liven up your complexion with a soft luminosity while enhancing your already tanned skin.

You can apply the bronzers with our Kabuki Brush or Powder Perfector Brush and simply dust across your nose, cheeks, forehead and even sweep over your eyelids in place of shadow for a very natural healthy glow.

Do not forget to protect your lips with a gloss or lipstick that has sun protection qualities. Dieci Colori’s Lip Lites lipsticks have an SPF 15 and are considered to be a dewy “Gloss in a Stick.”

Lastly, an excellent way to stay cool and refreshed is by keeping some key makeup and skin care products in your refrigerator during hot summer months like your eye cream, moisturizer and lipsticks!

They will stay fresh, feel invigorating and cool, and the lipsticks will stay firm and not melt. Just keep them in a plastic bag so they do not get lost in the shuffle, clearly marked for your use. Just do not forget to use them!
