Beecology Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Honey and Botanical, Sulfate-Free Shampoo

Repair-Your-Hair Naturally Conditioner

In my experience, when something unfolds organically, there is a passion behind the product rather than a sole objective of making money.  This passion is reflected in the quality and care put into the product.   This is the case with Beecology’s “Honey and Botanical, Sulfate-Free Shampoo” and “Repair-Your-Hair-Naturally Conditioner.”

Here’s some background on how the Cleveland-based company came to “bee” (sorry, couldn’t resist).  David Rzepka allowed a co-worker to keep a beehive on his farm.  The guy’s wife got pregnant and was unable to care for the bees.  Rzepka assumed care for the bees and became fascinated with the bee culture.  He witnessed how the world of bees imitated our life on earth, and how the slightest changes in the environment are reflected in the bees’ environment.  This led to his thinking about the chemicals we use and their impact on all of us.  These revelations ultimately inspired Rzepka to make products from bees that are better for us, and thus, Beecology was born.

If you’re looking for the CliffsNotes-style review, this stuff is phenomenal.  Buy it and use it; your hair will love you for it.  It’s going to cost you $26 for both–a little pricy, but just like its soaps, a lot of thought goes into Beecology’s shampoo and conditioner.

The little hair I have left is brutally dry.  In this economy my wife and I are using lower-end products and there is a very noticeable difference when I switched over to Beecology’s shampoo.  The Garnier Fructis I have been using is not totally bad (it has some good ingredients), but I did a little research and it’s alleged that its parent company, L’Oréal, is still involved in some deceptive animal testing practices.  In fact, the bottle says nothing about being cruelty free.

Beecology shampoo gives me that squeaky clean effect that I get when they wash my hair with the higher-end products at the salon.

I have a strong reaction to artificial scents.  Beecology’s shampoo and conditioner is full of extracts like chamomile and honey, leaving a fresh and natural smell. There is a noticeable difference in the thick lather it creates.  My wife has long and curly locks, and she loves it for the same reasons I do–so it’s great for all hair types.

Beecology’s conditioner is equally as great for a lot the same reasons as its shampoo.  It literally feels (my wife had the same experience) like this stuff sticks to and penetrates my hair. It produces the effect I get after not washing my hair for a few days and the oils build up to give it fullness. Turns out that this feeling I experience is a result of Beecology’s use of propolis extract from beehives, which is loaded with flavonoids that stimulate hair growth renew its youthful appearance. The blend of proteins, honey, and pure avocado and hemp oils also enrich my hair.

If its shampoo and conditioner are an indicator of the quality to come, I am very much looking forward to its “All-Natural Shower Gel”.
