Ken Paves

Celeb stylist, Ken Paves, knows hair. So, when I was offered the chance to test drive the Ken Paves hair dryer, I said, “Heck yes!”

In the world of hair dryers, you really do get what you pay for. When I visited my little sister in New Orleans, I didn’t pack my own hair dryer, because I assumed she had one. Well she did – sort of…she had one of those travel hair dryers that you see at hotels. Do you know how long it takes to dry your hair with one of those things? No ion technology to smooth the hair shaft, no heat settings – just a mini-space heater with a fan on it. My sister has shorter hair, so it doesn’t take as long, but it’s still not a dream hair dryer. I may have to get her a Ken Paves hair dryer.

The Ken Paves hair dryer is not an inexpensive hair styling tool ($129.99 retail), but it’s clearly a high quality tool. It’s got a professional, long-lasting motor and although large enough to get the job done, it’s not heavy (which would be annoying if you were holding it above your head for a long time during styling). It has Nano Silver Ceramic Tourmaline technology to ensure smoother hair shafts. It has two speed settings and three heat settings, as well as a cool shot (great for sealing a curl or setting hair to prevent flyaways).

If you use the highest heat setting and the highest speed, you can dry your hair FAST! Really nice when I’m in a hurry to get to work in the morning. However, using the highest heat setting on any hair dryer, is not something you should do every day. If you can take the time to dry with a lower heat, you’ll do less damage to your hair in the long run. You can use the high speed setting with a lower temperature any time to dry hair quickly – it’s kinda like those Dyson hand dryers you seen in public bathrooms – SUPER amazing air flow. Very nice.

The hair dryer also comes with two concentrators – those snap-on tips that target the air flow for styling. It also comes with a fancy shcmancy travel pouch, that I actually think is nice to have. Overall, I think this is a good buy and I’d recommend it. Please, if you have a hotel/travel hair dryer, do yourself a favor and upgrade! Ken Paves actually sells a travel hair dryer, that I have not tried, but I would guess it’s leaps and bounds over the travel hair dryers at the Hilton.
