LATHER Lavender Gift Set

Since I have a HORRIBLE headache today (and get them quite frequently), I thought I’d share a way to get some relief. Cruelty-free beauty brand, LATHER was founded by a migraine sufferer. On Saturday, June 5th, LATHER will kick off National Headache Awareness Week (June 6th – 12th) with a series of free headache-themed events/clinics, including:

-          10 AM – 11 AM – Relaxing yoga with Janine Conte

-          12 PM – 3 PM – Head and neck massages from The Spa at Equinox

-          3 PM – Aromatherapy clinic for stress/tension at LATHER’s Blending Bar, where LATHER founder Emilie Hoyt will lead a discussion on how aromatherapy can be used to treat stress, headaches, and migraines

-          ALL DAY – Guests can pick up free education materials such as headache diaries, headache charts, migraine trackers, and more to help learn about their headaches and hopefully learn new ways to manage them.

The store address is 17 East Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91105.

Sorry to read that you get headaches frequently. If you would rather not take aspirin or other kinds of pain killer there are some simple exercises that will help you gain relief from a headache.

These are based on acupressure – like acupuncture but without the needles, and you can administer it on yourself. It has been practised successfully in China and other Far Eastern countries for centuries, and now more and more people in the West are practising it.

Here is one exercise that can help anyone with a headache or migraine, whatever the cause.

At the back of your head, find the two hollows at the base of your skull on either side of your main neck muscle, two to three inches apart (depending on the size of your head). Use your thumbs to press into these hollows and underneath the base of your skull.

Do this for one to two minutes while slowly tilting your head back with eyes closed and breathing deeply. Relax as much as possible.

Both adults and children can safely do this exercise, and it should help bring relief from even the most severe headache. Repeat a couple of times if necessary.

    I hope this helps.
