Beecology, Part Deux

This is my second time reviewing Beecology. My expectations were high, and I was not let down.

There is absolutely nothing to not like about this company. It’s family run, gives back to charity (10% of purchase price goes to charity of your choice), uses local vendors, is cruelty-free, and its all about the Bees.

Here is a quote from a CEO that I do not hear often. “We are creating a business that is not only good for us, but for society and by giving back,” says David Rzepke, CEO and Founder, while appearing on PBS. Huh? I think I see a halo above his head.

Beecology products face the acid test before it gets to reviewers like me. Rzepka tests on family and friends, and not animals. “Kids are the best for feedback, as they are brutally honest,” he says.

Original Honey Hand & Body Cream: $12.99

I’m not a daily proactive user of hand and body cream. I use it only in response to a major dry-skin outbreak, and SoCal summers give me lots of opportunity.  This stuff is super rich, it penetrates and works. It delivers, offering extraordinary smoothness, no greasy residue, and brings soothing-healing relief.

My wife has been using it as well, and she concurs on its awesomeness. She describes its scent as “pleasant to the senses”.

The blend, Beecology’s own honey, olive oil, beeswax, bee-derived propolis, cupuacu and shea butter, is a winner

Natural Honey and Peppermint Body Wash: $8.99

I wasn’t sure about this one at first. Smells and scents provoke the senses, and for me, the thought of honey and peppermint wasn’t working (would you dip your candy cane in honey?). However, it turned out to be extremely invigorating and eye-opening way to start my day—like a shot of espresso for the body. Winner!

Buzz Balm Peppermint Lip Balm: $2.99

Once again, I am not a regular user of lip balm.  For the sake of this review, however, it was good time to try. With the amount of time my lips are exposed to the elements through my hours of hiking, swimming and gardening, they are entitled to a few days of pampering.

Simply put, this balm is great—being both cooling and rejuvenating thanks to tea tree oil and peppermint. After days of consistent use, my lips are silky smooth—not in a Lisa Rinna way, but more of a Drew Barrymore kind of way.

Beecology is available online and is coming to Whole Food’s Ohio locations.
