I recently tried Lisa Hoffman Skincare’s Madagascar Orchid – a Top Five Fragrance of the Year in 2009. The exotic scent of Madagascar Orchid is mixed with jasmine, ylang ylang, mimosa and pink peony.

I tried the roll-on Daytime and Evening variations. My favorite is the Evening version because it has a slightly sexier, spicier feel to it. These are actual perfume oils – not watered down, so a little goes a LONG way!

Tips from Lisa:

- Just use a touch of the perfume oil in your hair. It absorbs in nicely because it is an oil. Apply just a little to the palm of your hand, then rub in hair. It leave a subtle hint of the fragrance.

- Roll on fragrance oils are better than sprays becasue you can control the application, it doesn’t get on your clothes or on other people around you and doesn’t waste any of the product. They are great becasue they are portable and  you can carry them with you to discreetly reapply throughout the day or evening. The oils penetrate into the skin and with the warmth of the body diffuse the fragrance.

- Since summertime is sandals season, Lisa recommends using the Hand and Foot Butter (which is fragranced with the Madagascar Orchid fragrance). Apply a thick layer on the feet, then put on a pair of socks before you go to bed. The feet warm up and absorb the nourishing benefits of the butter and you wake up with smooth, soft feet. You can also do this on the hands, which is great during the winter when our hands get so dry.

I’ve been hearing all kinds of buzz about Perricone Cold Plasma. I haven’t tried it yet, but I want to! It’s a cruelty-free cornucopia of cosmetic correction. Sorry – fun with alliteration. I can’t comment on the results yet, but Cold Plasma is supposed to help pretty much any skin condition on any skin type!

It is made to combat:

• Wrinkles
• Enlarged pores
• Dryness
• Discoloration
• Loss of firmness
• Redness
• Uneven skin tone
• Impurities
• Loss of smoothness
• Loss of radiance

Who doesn’t have most of those skin conditions? The star ingredient is phosphatidylcholine, which is a phospholipid that helps to smooth skin, moisturize and increase cell regeneration. One thing to keep in mind – this product is not for my vegan friends. It contains DHA which is found in fish (usually salmon). It also contains DMAE which has been shown to have a positive effect on facial sagging. At $150 per jar, you should definitely try before you buy. Luckily Dr. Perricone is giving away free deluxe samples! You do have to pay for shipping ($4.95) but it’s still a good deal considering the cost of the cream itself.

Dr. Perricone’s newest book will be officially on sale in September. The book talks about how he discovered the technology which underlies Cold Plasma. Dr. Perricone was able to isolate charged particles, suspend them in a highly absorbent and penetrative base for maximum absorption into the skin. This is the science that underlies the product.  In the book, he also discusses how the nutrients in Cold Plasma directly stimulate the precursor to collagen and elastin, glycosaminoglycans. Dermatologists have been looking for years for effective ways to stimulate skin’s natural levels of glycosaminoglycans. Also – has anyone tried the Perricone No Foundation Foundation yet? It has DMAE and alpha lipoic acid, and supposedly looks very natural. My interest is piqued because it has a non-chemical sunscreen which is great for sensitive skin. I’ve had bad luck with most chemical sunscreens. They make my lips swell up. There are two schools of thought on this – either I look like a duck or Angelina Jolie. I think I was more in the duck category unfortunately. And it hurts. If anyone’s tried this, please let me know your thoughts!

You already know how much Jen and I love both animals and beauty products–that is, of course, why My Beauty Bunny exists today. Not only do we proudly feature cruelty-free news and reviews, we’re also glad to focus our attention on other acts of kindness, as well.  Our furry & four-legged friends are worth it!

What can you do to help?  Don’t think you’re hands are figuratively tied if you’re on a tight budget: check out the refresh project; it won’t cost you a cent to get involved.  Instead, your vote helps determine which causes/charities receive a grant from Pepsi–and you can even vote for multiple projects.  Based upon what I’ve seen thus far, animal advocacy appears to be quite popular; one of the June recipients was San Antonio’s Paws Ranch rescue & animal sanctuary.  This no-kill shelter was awarded $25,000–all because concerned voters like yourselves, dear readers, made it happen!

The texture is really nice – super thick, but not greasy and absorbs really well. I also like the no-waste pump container. You get every last bit. I really don’t like jars of body cream because you’re forced to contaminate the cream every time you dip in to get some. Kim Kardashian's Long Eyelashes

Want ridiculously long lashes like Kim Kardashian?

Well, that might not be possible without eyelash extensions or falsies (which I suspect she wears), but you can definitely grow your lashes with lash lengtheners like Talika Cosmetics Lipocils Expert.

Many of you have read the Talika Lipocils reviews and so far, most of them have been very positive. Lipocils (original formulation launched in 1948) is a product designed to condition and grow your lashes, make them darker and increase eyelash curl in as little as 28 days. Unlike Latisse (a prescription product), Talika will not irritate your eyes, cause pupils to change color, make your lashes fall out, or darken the skin around your eyes. I wear contacts have sensitive skin, and I had absolutely no irritation when using Talika (unlike other products I have tried).

Talika Cosmetics has just launched the new Lipocils Expert, which comes with a double-applicator. You use the sponge tip to apply the clear gel to the base of your eyes, along the top and bottom lash lines. Then, use the mascara-like wand to coat your lashes. Use it twice a day for 28 days and then apply once a day.

The ingredients nourish your lashes and the skin around your eyes using natural ingredients like nettle, witch hazel, apple, polymers, silk proteins, lecithin, St. John’s Wort, lactic acid, allantoin, and coleus forskohlii (an Ayurvedic herb from the mint family). The product also protects your eyelashes from UV rays with baobab leaf and sour orange extract.

An independent team of dermatologists at Hopitaux de Paris, France, conducted clinical testing with the following results:

• Growth: average length increase of 36%.

• Average increase in lash curve: 50%

I tried Talika’s Lipocils Expert for 30 days, and I was very impressed with the results. I actually saw results in just a few days (even though it takes 28 days for full results)! I put it on my left eye only (so I could compare), and I did notice that the lashes seemed thicker and darker. I can’t say I noticed much curl though. In fact, they were actually less curly because the lashes were longer (and weighed more). But, when I used an eyelash curler…wow! The bottom lashes were also much longer. I tried my best to put the product on my eyelashes morning and night, but I can’t say I stuck to that every day. I still noticed results and I imagine they would be even better if I had been religious about putting it on twice a day. All in all, I highly recommend this cruelty-free product.
