April 2012 Update – Caudalie is no longer on the Leaping Bunny list because they are no longer cruelty free. icon sad Caudalie Vine Body Butter cruelty free beauty cruelty free

Floridians and Californians may not believe this, but most of the US is dealing with freezing weather and…snow! I’ve been going between LA and Boston lately and let me tell you – it’s quite a shock getting off the plane each time!

I actually heard someone in line at Sephora (in Los Angeles mind you) talking about how their hands got all cracked and dry in the winter. I think she was a nurse or someone in a profession that involves a lot of hand washing (teachers, doctors, etc.). I told her about a few creams she should try. One of them was cruelty-free and vegan Caudalie Vine Body Butter. Caudalie does not test on animals and their products are are made without parabens, phenoxyethanol and phthalates.

Caudalie’s Vine Body Butter is a an ultra-moisturizing cream with grapeseed oil, sunflower seed oil and shea butter. It’s great for dry hands, knees, elbows, legs and other rough spots. It absorbs quickly and is not overly greasy. I like to use it all over at night and on my hands and arms during the day. The scent is fairly strong – a citrus-y smell. My sister thought it was pleasant and light, but it seemed a little heavy to me. I have a really sensitive nose though, so keep that in mind. If you use Bath and Body Works, The Body Shop and Victoria’s Secret products, this will seem light to you.

I really like the squeeze tube packaging too. Most body butters comes in jars that you have to dip your fingers into, which spreads germs – gross! Plus, the silver and green packaging makes it look really luxe – not a bad thing to keep out on the shelf (good job Caudalie marketing people)! Caudalie Vine Body Butter is currently $28 for 6.7 oz.

My Beauty Bunny Scorecard (5 is the best):

  • Packaging – 5/5
  • Absorption/Grease Factor – 4/5
  • Value – 3/5
  • Scent – 4/5
  • Overall – 4/5
