If you don’t already have White Rabbit Beauty on your radar, bookmark it now. I’ll wait.
Why? White Rabbit Beauty only sells Leaping Bunny-certified beauty products! You can buy anything from their store and feel confident that the product and its ingredients are not tested on animals.
Jean, the owner of White Rabbit Beauty, sent me several mascaras from her shop so I can review and give you my honest opinions. Here we go.
First – here’s a pic of my lashes without mascara.
FACE atelier Sculpt Mascara ($26)
From the FACE atelier material:
“Sculpt Mascara subtly builds and lengthens for feathery, sleek lashes without spiking or clumping. Fiber free with a touch of silicone for a splash-proof finish. Vitamins C and E, together with conditioning agents, makes Sculpt Mascara the choice for healthy lashes.”
My thoughts: I tried Coffee (dark brown) and Cry Baby (black waterproof). These are good for lengthening without clumping – which is usually what I’m looking for. The waterproof is a bit clumpier than the regular, but still very natural looking. They do contain beeswax – so not for vegans.
Beauty Without Cruelty Mascara ($14.95 – $15.95)
From Beauty Without Cruelty’s material:
“Separates and defines each lash with long-lasting, smudge-resistant color. Gentle, fragrance-free formulations.”
White Rabbit Beauty says:
“BWC’s full name for this mascara is “BWC Full Volume Mascara.” We’ve called it simply “BWC Regular Mascara” because it’s not really a volume mascara. Like other BWC mascaras, this is a fairly light mascara, adding length more than volume for a natural look. You can achieve volume, though, by applying multiple coats. This mascara doesn’t clump (it’s excellent that way), so it’s easy to apply multiple coats without a problem.”
My thoughts: These are the most natural-looking of the bunch. Not quite enough oomph for me. I did try the cocoa and walnut colors – both browns. Perhaps this mascara in black would make a great everyday mascara. The Walnut is a true brown and probably better for blondes. One thing I don’t like about other mascaras though, is that they weigh my lashes down and kill any curl I got from my lash curler. The BWC mascaras are light and don’t weigh my lashes down. Beauty Without Cruelty products are 100% vegan. Great for contact lens wearers and those with sensitive skin.
Zuzu Luxe (Gabriel Cosmetics) ($16.70)
From the ZuZu Luxe material:
“This gentle and non-irritating formula enriched with vitamins and herbal extracts will help protect each fragile eyelash and encourage maximum growth. The luxurious nylon brush is especially designed to add some wattage to your wink! Clump proof and non-smudging.”
Zuzu Luxe is vegan. By far the best for volumizing and thickening lashes. The Espresso is a true brown – next time I’ll probably go with the black – this one’s probably best left to my blonde friends. Zuzu also makes a clear that is great for brows.
Talika Eye Makeup Remover/Cleanser
Between all these pics I’ve been using Talika Lash Conditioning Cleanser ($24) – it’s an oil-free blue gel that works well to take off regular and waterproof mascara while conditioning your lashes. It seems to be safe for my sensitive, contact-lens-wearing eyes, so a definite bonus. It does have silk proteins, so not for vegans.
