Next to an amazing pink, orange is my favorite lipstick color. Orange lipstick makes me feel fierce, strong and alive – like a red does for many women.
Why orange is empowering to me I’ll never know. I just embrace it, swipe on one of my favorite shades and hold my head up high. I understand orange isn’t for everyone, even though anyone can rock it. If you’re afraid of the bright color, start with a light orange lip gloss to help you transition into an orange lipstick.
I’ve tried orange lipsticks from many different brands, trying to find the right ones for me. Here are my top 4 colors in no particular order, all of which are cruelty-free:
Lime Crime – My Beautiful Rocket
My Beautiful Rocket is a cheerful tangerine, perfect for summer. Lime Crime’s lipsticks are nicely opaque, long-lasting and come in a beautiful array of colors, with My Beautiful Rocket being in my top 2. Although Lime Crime’s pretty packaging initially drew me in, their amazing products kept me a loyal customer.
NYX Round Lipstick – Tangerine
Nyx Cosmetics has always been one of my favorite beauty brands, and I always keep at least one Round Lipstick in my purse. Tangerine is a fun pearly-orange shade that works well in the daytime. Although not long-lasting, these lipsticks are very moisturizing with lots of color.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics – Beta
Beta is a bright shade of orange and very lively. If you’re comfortable with orange and want people to know it, Beta is the way to go. OCC Lip Tars are extremely long-lasting, and I rarely have to touch-up when I wear them. They dry down to a nice matte finish, but I like to wear a clear gloss on top. You only need a small drop to cover your whole mouth.
Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics – Tangelo
Tangelo is a slightly transparent orange-coral shade that I can wear any time of day. Youngblood’s lipsticks are lightweight, moisturizing, and feel great on the lips. Tangelo is a great lipstick to wear for those who want to wear orange, but don’t want to stand out doing so.
