Smashbox is Cruelty Free

Did you know that Smashbox was cruelty free? And they have some d@mn good products. Here are a few I’ve been loving lately.

Girls on Film Softbox - This palette has 6 natural, everyday, earthy, wear-to-work kind of shades. They are buildable, so you can get a soft look or a more defined look with a heavier application. In the swatches below, I used my finger instead of a brush and swiped several times.

Smashbox Hydrating Primer 250x241 Smashbox is Cruelty Free cruelty free beauty

Photo Finish Primer – Smashbox is the reigning King (Queen?) of primers in most beauty circles. The original Photo Finish Primer is great for normal to oily skin. It keeps your makeup from sliding off – especially in the summer. This is also a must-have if you live in an area with high humidity. Need a little more moisture? Try the new Photo Finish Hydrating Primer! I got a sample from Klout and it’s very similar to the original, but it gives you an oil-free moisture boost (perfect for the winter months when your skin is a bit more dry). Your skin will still be matte and oil-free – never oily. This isn’t a moisturizer. It’s still a primer. If you have trouble with makeup staying on all day, I highly recommend Smashbox primers. It also fills in small lines and wrinkles!

High Definition Healthy FX Foundation SPF 15 – This medium to heavy coverage foundation comes in 13 shades. It’s oil-free (great for acne-prone or oily skin) and works really well over the primer. The SPF 15 is a definite plus – remember you need an SPF – even in Winter!

I love smashbox products and they are probably 75% of what is in my day to day make-up routine. The new Studio Skin foundation is AMAZING! More matte than the High Definition and it really does last for 15 hrs + and it is hydrating! Feels kinda tight when putting it on, but soaks in quick and oh my it is awesome. Literally the day I started using it I was getting compliments on my makeup and being asked what I was doing differently.

Love SB! Their eye shadows are so highly pigmented and they really last. The primer is excellent! It’s only one I’ve tried that doesn’t feel like an oil slick on my face. And of course, they have to be CF or they don’t wind up on my vanity! Thanks for the post. Love the blog; keep it up!

It’s 100% CF? I mean SB isn’t owned by any other company? Or buy 3rd party ingredients?
    You know what I mean?

  7. To the best of my knowledge, they are 100% cruelty free!

sorry if I bother you but actually MAC, Bobbi Brown and Clinique owned by Estee Lauder, and Estee Lauder still test on animals. I have written to Clinique, MAC and they both said that " The Estee Lauder Companies fully supports the development and global acceptance of non-animal testing alternatives ", they support but they still do test. Read more information in http://littlemissmetamorph.blogspot.com/2011/04/n
and " I was surprised to learn when I worked for Esteé Lauder that the majority of companies still do this! Shocking really in this day and age…" in this link http://emmafarrell.wordpress.com/2009/06/10/illam
Maybe they do not test on animals ( "except required by law ") but they they do profit from ingredients bought from their suppliers who do test on animals.
The PETA do not test list is not TRUE anymore. So many companies do not test FINISHED PRODUCTS on animals, it's not mean they do not test ingredients or do not get other company to test for them.
Believe or not, just depending on you.
p/s : sorry for grammar mistake.

  9. Thanks for your comment Keith! It's my understanding that Clinique, MAC & Bobbi Brown ARE cruelty-free even though their parent company might not be. With so many small companies being taken over by larger ones (i.e. Body Shop, Tom's of Maine), it's hard to keep up! However, I personally support CF brands despite what their parent companies might be doing, because I think it shows the parent brands that CF brands can be successful. Eventually it will be all CF all the time!
