Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Illuminating Serum is a liquid highlighter and skin brightener that you can use alone or mix with your foundation for a bit of shimmer.
I think this is a fun product to use on areas that you would normally highlight. For me, that’s under my eyes, the tops of the cheekbones and my nose. I tried using it all over and my skin just looked oily. Someone with dry skin and not a lot of wrinkles would probably be able to use it everywhere, but for most people this is probably best used as a highlighter. Smooth Operator is ideal for parched and dry winter skin – try using it under foundation or tinted moisturizer. (UPDATE: Tarte let me know that this product is not meant to be used all over your face. So, for it’s intended use, it’s quite good!)
The formula is great for all skin types. It contains Amazonian clay to absorb oil, chamomile to heal skin and moisturize, and antioxidants (Vitamins A, C and E) to protect and brighten skin. It goes on smoothly and you don’t need much, so the bottle (although a bit pricey) should last a long time. Tip: try using it on your decollete and arms for a sparkly party look!
