Urban Decay – New Items!

Urban Decay has two new products that I really like.

Razor Sharp Ultra Definition Finishing Powder

The first is a finishing powder called Urban Decay Razor Sharp Ultra Definition Finishing Powder ($30). The powder is ultra fine, and is meant to prevent shine and give an even look without looking heavy or cakey. It has a slight air-brushing effect and was designed to look good on celebs who are constantly under bright lights and hi-def TV screens.

The best thing is that this product is vegan and like all Urban Decay products – not tested on animals. I love their slogan, “We don’t do animal testing. How could anyone?”

The packaging, in typical, edgy Urban Decay fashion, has little razor blade images around the rim and cute hearts and birds and whatnot on the lid. It comes with a self-contained sponge applicator, which at first I didn’t like. I’m used to using mineral powders with a brush. I soon realized that it’s quite convenient and I can still use my brush. I just do a few poofs on my cheeks, chin and forehead and then spread it out with my big powder brush.

I really like it – it looks very natural. Because I’m so light, I was wondering if this light shade would work on darker skin tones. I forced my ex-boyfriend/friend (who is Filipino and has very dark skin) to let me put it on his face. It wasn’t that hard – he does whatever I say. Lo and behold – it worked! So, I guess it will work for most skin tones.

The only thing I don’t really like is the powder getting in my nose, mouth and eyes – you kind of have to scrunch up your face when you put it on and try not to inhale too much. The particles are super fine, so they poof out, like smoke. Comes with the territory I guess.

You can wear this powder alone, or if you’re like me and you have acne scars and hyperpigmentation to hide, apply it on top of your regular foundation. Urban Decay also recommends using this UNDER your foundation to create a liquid powder effect. I haven’t tried that yet, but it sounds like it would work.

Eden Eyeshadow Primer Potion

The other new product is Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion – in MATTE! It’s called Eden, and must be one of the only non-sparkly things Urban Decay makes! Kidding, kidding.

It’s just as good as the shimmery kinds, which I LOVE. You can see my regular Eyeshadow Primer Potion review here. But, sometimes you don’t need a shiny backdrop for your eyeshadow. This version is almost like a concealer that happens to make your eyeshadow stay on. It also reduces that oily eyelid phenomenon, which I always get.

It has no parabens, sulfates or synthetic fragrances – don’t need any of that next to your eyes. And, I”m not kidding you, when I say this stuff is a lifesaver and I use it (or one of its shimmery cousins) every time I wear eyeshadow.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion – in Eden is available only at Sephora.com ($18).
