Onsen skin care is a cruelty free brand that is different from the rest in one major way. The water used in all the products is based on Japanese onsen (hot springs). That means it has a high mineral content that is able to penetrate the skin for maximum results.
Japanese women discovered the healing waters and rejuvenating rituals of the onsen in the 10th century and have continued to benefit from their discovery ever since. Inspired by the countryside baths, Onsen products are made with the same restorative minerals found at the source.
Onsen water is modeled on the onsen water molecules and manufactured in the USA, Onsen’s Micro Water Complex™ (MWC) forms the basis of every Onsen skincare formula. Trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) is the physiological phenomenon that causes skin to become dehydrated, irritated or etched with fine lines. Because Onsen’s MWC molecules are so much smaller than regular water molecules, they are significantly more effective in penetrating through skin cell walls, fortifying the skin with nutrient-rich minerals. MWC reverses moisture depletion, helps balance pH levels, and delivers rejuvenating nutrients to the deepest layers of your skin. As a result, skin surface plumps up, fine lines diminish, and irritation clears away so you truly feel more comfortable in your own skin.
Onsen sent me several products to try out, and they also gave me a facial at their headquarters in Los Angeles. I am very skeptical when it comes to hype, but so far, I have been really loving the products. The Daily Toner is great for my combination skin. The AM/PM Powder Technology is really cool. There are two products in the box – one for morning and one for night. They are both powders that transform into a moisturizing substance when rubbed into the skin. I was told to use it directly on fine lines, acne and acne scars. They are basically very concentrated minerals that have major healing powers.
